Not to say that the recent games were outright terrible, but Sonic Team lost my trust with Sonic Forces. It was tonally ridiculous , the level design was flat and classic Sonic felt forced into the game because they were playing the nostalgia-bait card again. When Sega tries to reboot the series, it’s rarely a good thing, as evidenced by this tepid tie-in to the Sonic Boom Cartoon Network animated series. Clearly aimed at kids, Sonic Boom focuses more on corny characters delivering bad one-liners and dull combat than the sense of speed the series is known for. It may have taken two decades, but Sega has finally recaptured that 16-bit magic with this love letter to the series that celebrates the past while also catapulting Sonic into the future. The gorgeously animated pixel art sparkles, and the bouncy soundtrack hits all the right nostalgic notes.

Its is basically a boost game with all that entails but there are also some shoot them up sections that are really interesting. I know there are a lot of Sonic games in Dreams, but I don’t know a single one, so I hope someone here could tell us what could a good game when you have Dreams. There is never really a dull moment to be had, and there is plenty of content to power through. Hopefully Sonic Team and SEGA follow up with a direct sequel as they have the formula nailed just right. Sonic Frontiers has given me good moments that I haven’t had in a long time with our blue hedgehog. Many will wonder if being open world was a success, and the answer is yes.
